Tanmaya Shekhar completes debut feature Nukkad Natak

Congratulations to Tanmaya Shekhar who attended Nostos in the fall of 2020 on completing his debut feature Nukkad Natak.

Nukkad Naatak is a Hindi independent social drama directed and co-produced by Tanmaya Shekhar, starring Molshri and Shivang Rajpal, about two expelled college students who must enroll children from a nearby slum into school—leading to a journey of chaos, conscience, and social change. The film follows two college students who, after being expelled, are tasked with enrolling children from a nearby slum into school—an experience that forces them to confront the stark social divide between privileged campuses and marginalized communities. Nukkad Natak stars newcomers Molshri and Shivang Rajpal, both with strong theatre backgrounds.

Despite being made without major studio backing, the film has already earned recognition on the festival circuit. It won the Special Jury Award at the 30th Kolkata International Film Festival, and also screened internationally, reflecting the growing impact of independent cinema.
