What kind of retreats does Nostos offer?
Since hosting our first screenwriting retreats back in 2018, we've since expanded and diversified our offerings.

Screenwriting Retreats
Our Screenwriting Retreats, held four times per year, are an invitation for writers to step away from daily distractions and immerse themselves in the craft of storytelling.
Over two weeks in the Tuscan hills, participants focus on their feature-length screenplays through group workshops, individual mentorship sessions, and dedicated writing time.
Guided by experienced mentors and guest speakers, this is a chance to develop your script in a supportive, creative setting.

Directing
Retreats
Our Directing Lab is a ten-day intensive for directors who want to go deeper into the craft — not just what to shoot, but how to communicate it.
Working through Rob Spera's spoken and unspoken languages of film directing, participants develop practical tools for visual storytelling, actor communication, and shot design — drawing on his curriculum from 20 years at the American Film Institute. Hands-on exercises, daily critique, and dedicated practice time in the Tuscan hills make this a rare opportunity to work on your directing instincts in a focused, immersive setting.
Our Retreat Location
Every spring and fall, we host two-week screenwriting retreats at our villa in the hills of Arezzo, Tuscany.
Our Past Retreats
Nostos Screenwriting Retreats began in 2018 with the belief that screenwriters need time and space away from daily distractions to focus fully on their craft. Since then, we’ve hosted retreats and workshops in the Tuscan countryside, on the island of Elba, and—in 2020, when gathering wasn’t possible—online. Each retreat has provided writers with the dedicated environment they need to concentrate, create, and bring new stories to life.
