Since hosting our first screenwriting retreats back in 2018, we've since expanded and diversified our offerings.
What kind of retreats does Nostos offer?

Screenwriting Retreats
Our Screenwriting Retreats, held four times per year, are an invitation for writers to step away from daily distractions and immerse themselves in the craft of storytelling.
Over two weeks in the Tuscan hills, participants focus on their feature-length screenplays through group workshops, individual mentorship sessions, and dedicated writing time.
Guided by experienced mentors and guest speakers, this is a chance to develop your script in a supportive, creative setting.

Documentary Lab
Retreats
The Nostos Doc Lab is dedicated to empowering emerging and established documentary filmmakers to develop compelling, thought-provoking stories. Through an intensive two-week program, participants refine their creative vision, strengthen their narratives, and gain practical industry insights into pitching, funding, and distribution.
Our goal is to help filmmakers turn ideas into actionable, production-ready projects while fostering a collaborative and supportive documentary community.

Nostos Film House
Residency
Nostos Film House is a creative residency designed for filmmakers, screenwriters, editors and other film-industry professionals seeking time and space to focus on their projects. Set in this peaceful, scenic home, it offers a quiet retreat to write, edit, reflect and create.
The programme is self-directed—there are no formal workshops or deadlines, only the invitation to connect with your work (and fellow residents) in a supportive environment.
Nostos Film House offers a place to return to your craft, and to yourself—surrounded by sea-air views and woodland calm.
Our Retreat Location
Every spring and fall, we host two-week screenwriting retreats at our villa in the hills of Arezzo, Tuscany.
Our Past Retreats
Nostos Screenwriting Retreats began in 2018 with the belief that screenwriters need time and space away from daily distractions to focus fully on their craft. Since then, we’ve hosted retreats and workshops in the Tuscan countryside, on the island of Elba, and—in 2020, when gathering wasn’t possible—online. Each retreat has provided writers with the dedicated environment they need to concentrate, create, and bring new stories to life.
